Valve Cover Gaskets

The valve cover is mounted on top of the cylinder head, where the valves and valve actuators are located. These parts are supplied with oil by the lubrication system. The valve cover's task is to keep the oil in the engine and to keep the cylinder head free from contamination by dust and moisture from outside. A gasket is always fitted between the cylinder head and the valve cover to ensure a fluid-tight seal. When working on the cylinder head (checking valve clearance or adjusting), it is always advisable to fit a new gasket to prevent leaks or 'sweating through'.
