By the output shaft, we mean the shaft that connects from the gearbox to the front sprocket. When leakage occurs at that sprocket, there is often a defective seal, provided by a retaining ring. These plastic seals have a spring on the inside, which presses the retaining ring against the output shaft on the inside. This ensures that water and dirt cannot reach the bearings and that lubrication remains in the bearing.

Note: immediately check if there is no play on the bearing behind the retaining ring, because that can also cause the leakage.

At Motoshop Europe you will find the right retaining rings (and bearings!) for almost every engine type. Check our overview or inquire with our technical people when you can't figure it out.
